I am a member of 2730 Japan Current Rotary E-club.

I am a secretary of "International Children's Village Happy Valley"

This association started in 1992. We have an accommodation named Happy Valley in south India for the children come from all over the world.

Our main event is "Peace Camp" which is held every summer in Happy Valley.

Our motto is "Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed"

I like this phrase:
A peace based exclusively upon the political and economic arrangements of governments would not be a peace which could secure the unanimous, lasting and sincere support of the peoples of the world, and that the peace must therefore be founded, if it is not to fail, upon the intellectual and moral solidarity of mankind.

宮崎県延岡市にある子どもを中心にした国際交流団体・インド国際子ども村「ハッピーバリー」の事務局長をしています。

この団体では毎年夏休みに日本の子どもたちをインドを中心にした途上国に派遣しています。

この活動は「平和キャンプ」と名付けられ今年で20周年を迎えます。

最近では不登校の子どもの保護者からの問い合わせが多く、インドから帰国した後、学校に行き出した例が数多くあります。

なぜ日本で学校に行けない子どもたちが、この「平和キャンプ」に参加してインドを体験することで、ほとんどの子どもが学校に行くようになるのか？

実際に学校に行くようになった子どもに尋ねてみました。

「小さなことにクヨクヨしなくなった」

そうです。みんなが自由で、自分らしさを発揮するインド。その雰囲気の中で、自分にとって一番大事なこととは何か、を発見するのだと思います。

インド国際子ども村「ハッピーバリー」の「子どもとともに平和を考える活動」が少しでもこのように非常事態の時に、「人間らしい」l行動をすることが出来る人間の形成を、参加する少年、少女のために、みんなでいっしょにしているのだという意味の素晴らしさをあらためて感じる。
