Vai começar agora uma experiência cheia de labirintos, cogumelos, flautas, grilos, árvores, paredes, chuva, pássaros, duendes, tambores, flores-borboleta, épocas, ventanias, contrabaixos, cores, paisagens, objetos, personagens, paisagens… Atmosferas. Imagens. Sons. Sensório. Textura.

Foi com a força desses elementos que meus órgãos foram espancados pelo som de uma banda que vem de Pernambuco não apenas para “se inserir” na cena musical brasileira, mas para abrir as portas da percepção de nossos palcos, platéias, MP3’s e salas de estar. Deixando de lado aquele velho comprimido que dá sono, vamos falar de ímpeto. Vamos falar da banda Rivotrill.

Composta de três virtuosos músicos com formações distintas, a banda lançou seu disco de estréia, Curva de Vento, de forma independente, no dia 25 de janeiro, no Teatro de Santa Isabel, em Recife. O Rivotrill é Júnior Crato [flauta, saxofone e teclados], Rafa Duarte [contrabaixo elétrico] e Lucas dos Prazeres [percussão]. Como banda instrumental, as fronteiras se diluem, pois eles sabem o que querem e onde querem chegar.

Imagine a playground filled with mazes, mushrooms, flutes, crickets, trees, pouring rain, birds, elves, drums, flowers, butterflies.  Take a journey through the seasons, the curve of the winds, basses, colours, landscapes, objects, characters... Soak up the atmospheres, images, sounds.  Experience a feast for the senses. Layers of texture.

These elements combined in a beat that spoke to my soul and this sound came from a band hailing from Pernambuco.  They were not there to fit into the Brazilian music scene, but to present their vision on our stages, to audiences, to be played on MP3s and into our living rooms. You may know the name of the band as a medication to induce relaxation and sleep.  But let’s leave the pill to one side for now and talk about momentum. Let's talk about the band Rivotrill.

Composed of three musicians from different backgrounds, the band released their debut album, Curva de Vento, independently, on 25th January 2008 at the Teatro de Santa Isabel in Recife. Rivotrill consists of: Junior Crato [flute, saxophone and keyboards]; Rafa Duarte [electric bass] and Lucas dos Prazeres [percussion]. As an instrumental band there are no boundaries and they know what they want and where they want to go.
